The future of work remains unclear and challenging. Globalisation is diffusing ideas and practices around the world; technology is allowing people to collaborate across distance in real time; shifts in mobility are making people freer to work when and where they want; social media is transforming the way people connect, share and build communities; educational trends are beginning to disrupt traditional routes to qualifications. We need to comprehend the future of skills.

The GFSC will focus on research, education, and training on global skills for the future. We will conduct research projects, disseminate ideas to the public, and engage with the industry to ascertain and develop key skills for management graduates.

Our key objectives include
  • To contribute to the understanding of future skills in regional management
  • To collaborate and engage with industry partners to build their skills and capacity for future
  • To disseminate the cluster outcomes to relevant and of high quality audiences (top ranked journals and international conferences)
  • To foster CMMU as an innovation learning hub for future skills
Cluster and the College of Management

The College of Management at Mahidol University (CMMU) is one of the leading business schools in the region. We are aware of the critical issue on a mismatch between the skills the workforce has and the skills employers are looking for. While the range of required skills varies from sector to sector, workers in all sectors will need to become more adaptable in the future. Our college aims at contributing to the body of knowledge in this important area.

We will deliver impactful research aimed at increasing the innovation capabilities of private and public sector firms, through a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach with external stakeholders, combining excellence and relevance, and promoting CMMU as an innovation hub for the future skills in the global context.

The GFSC will also foster CMMU’s position as a management school for future skills in the region. In so doing we will "lead and harness research-driven change in the area of future skills to unlock the value and impact of innovation within Thailand, Southeast Asia, and worldwide."

Areas for GFSC

Global skills should include a broad range of topics related to work and skills. This involves, but not limited to, skills, performance and impact – and illuminating innovation in all its facets with insights from a wide range of business fields including strategy, marketing, entrepreneurship, environmental management, logistics, HRD and Design – and incorporating STEM subject matter expertise as needed.
