Bridging Classroom to Care: HWM Students Experience Real-World Healthcare at Vejthani Hospital

One of the defining missions of the College of Management, Mahidol University (CMMU) is to seamlessly bridge academic learning with real-world practice—especially in fast-evolving fields like healthcare and wellness management. On March 7, students from the Healthcare and Wellness Management (HWM) program stepped beyond the classroom and into real-world practice during an immersive site visit at Vejthani Hospital. This meaningful collaboration between CMMU and its industry partners was designed to deepen students’ understanding of modern healthcare operations through direct experience.

During the visit, students explored a wide range of departments and cutting-edge innovations, including:
  • OPD Eye and OPD ENT – gaining exposure to specialized diagnostic technologies in patient care
  • Inpatient Ward – understanding the integration of Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Decision Support Systems (DSS), smart medication cards, closed-loop medication systems, and digital patient platforms
  • Radiology Department – observing advanced imaging technologies such as CT, MRI, and X-ray, enhanced by AI-supported functionalities
  • Laboratory Department – learning about laboratory automation and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
  • Pharmacy Department – experiencing automated dispensing systems and robotic medication delivery
  • Rehabilitation Center – exploring advanced rehabilitation solutions, including robotic-assisted physical therapy, gamified occupational therapy tools, and hydrotherapy
Throughout the experience, students actively engaged with healthcare professionals, posed thoughtful questions, and connected classroom concepts with real-world applications. This hands-on learning opportunity reflects CMMU’s commitment to developing future leaders who are equipped with both strong theoretical foundations and practical insights.

Our deepest gratitude goes to Dr. Tullawat Pacharapha, Chief Operating Officer of Vejthani Hospital and part-time faculty member at CMMU, for his leadership and continued dedication to fostering meaningful collaboration between academia and the healthcare industry.

We would also like to extend special thanks to Amitta Pacharapha for expertly guiding students through both clinical and operational areas, providing them with firsthand insight into how modern healthcare systems truly operate. Experiential learning initiatives like this play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders, reinforcing CMMU’s position as a hub for management education that creates real-world impact.
